The first week we gathered we still faced mask restrictions and social distancing requirements. Since that time, as infection rates continue to plummet and stay low, we are able to adjust our worship as appropriate. One of the most difficult changes to our worship in the last year was the absence of Holy Communion. Back in May when we were able to regather in person, it was still advisable to administer the bread alone. Receiving Holy Communion in either form of bread or wine is full Communion and the full presence of Christ is conveyed. REGATHERING UPDATE As Covid-related infection rates continue to fall in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Shenandoah County, we have revised guidelines for worship. As of May 30, the following changes took effect for worship in Beckford Parish. The wearing of masks is optional with the exception of congregational singing (masks are to be worn for congregational singing). Although I am fully vaccinated, I will continue to wear a mask indoors, removing it only while actively leading worship and preaching. I…

We are announcing new changes being put in place for in-person worship as of May 28. Bishop Goff has delegated authority to local clergy to make best decisions for our congregations, which brought about these updates. Going forward, we must continue to monitor two things: public health markers and guidance from civic authorities, including the CDC, the Virginia Department of Health and the Governor of Virginia.
