LIGHT UP WOODSTOCK: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We’re taking part in Light Up Woodstock this year by setting out individually wrapped cookies on tables at the sidewalk out front of Emmanuel. We won’t be doing hot chocolate this year due to COVID.
VOLUNTEERS FOR SET UP/TEAR DOWN
We’re in need of some volunteers to set up the table, set out the cookies then bring everything in after.
BAKERS/COOKIE BAGGERS
We also need folks to bake cookies then place each in an individual snack or sandwich bag. In previous years, we have given out 80 dozen or more so lots of cookies are needed! Any and all kinds are welcome, or even store bought, as long as they’re dropped off individually bagged.
WHEN
The event is Friday, Dec. 3. We’ll need folks to begin set up at 5:30 p.m. and then clean up after the parade at about 7 p.m. There’s no need to stay at the table this year as all the cookies will go out at once so you’re welcome to leave and come back. Cookies need to be dropped off at Emmanuel by 5:30 p.m. that day in time for set up.
If you’re able to volunteer for set up/clean up or to bake and bag cookies, please email Melissa to let her know by Sunday, Nov. 21. If you’re baking, please let her know how many you’ll be making. If you have any questions, please speak with Mother Kathy or Melissa.
2021 EMMANUEL GIVING TREE
We’re undertaking a special project for the Giving Tree this year!
W.W. Robinson Elementary has a few programs that aren’t widely advertised and are in need of support — Admin, counselors and the nurses keep clothes, outerwear, socks and undergarments on hand to quietly give to students who they notice may not have weather-appropriate clothing, no outerwear, have a need for clothing due to personal reasons, or to students who become ill or have accidents so that they’re not left in soiled clothing all day. They also keep bottled water and snacks on hand in case kids come in, for whatever reason, without their own water bottle or snack, or without having had breakfast. Everything is given directly to the students, so it benefits them directly. It also helps the staff have a brighter day because so often they see kids in need but aren’t able to help. With that in mind, we’ve arranged with the principal to support these efforts through our annual Giving Tree. The principal is excited that we’re doing this for them.
To join in this effort, all you need to do is pick item(s) off the list, select from the noted size range if it’s clothing (it can be for boys or girls, your choice), have fun shopping them drop everything off at Emmanuel in the downstairs parlor by Mon., Dec. 13. If you’d like, you can even shop online and have items sent directly to Emmanuel. If you prefer, you’re welcome to send a check, made out to Emmanuel and noted that it’s for the Giving Tree, to the church at 122 E. Court, St., Woodstock, VA 22664 and the Outreach Committee will shop for you. St. Andrew’s folks are absolutely invited to join in the fun!
You can find the list of needed items here on our website.
There’s no need to sign up or to worry about duplicates — anything and everything is needed! Don’t worry about tagging or wrapping this year either. It’s a super easy project since we know everyone is already stressed and harried with the upcoming holiday season. We do ask that the items be new and food be individually packaged.
Melissa is collecting and organizing everything, then arranging a drop off at the school before Christmas so they’ll have a very merry Christmas for the whole school.
If you have any questions, please contact Melissa.
VESTRY MEETINGS
Emmanuel vestry is meeting Mon., Nov. 15, and St. Andrew’s is meeting Tues., Nov. 16, both at 6:30 p.m.

Flowers are displayed for two weeks and if you would like, a dedication can be included in the bulletin those Sundays. Please speak with Mother Kathy or Melissa for more information.

WORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASK POLICY
Given the trends in the county infection rate, the Delta variant, CDC guidance and other pertinent information, everyone is required to wear masks at services, no matter vaccination status. We are also asking folks to maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times, including skipping every other pew.
Our goal is to keep one another as safe as we possibly can. We are very concerned about the continued high rates of infection and transmission in ShenCo, combined with a low vaccination rate, and are monitoring the situation very closely. We urge everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated. Please keep an eye on our website and your email in case important updates need to be shared.
