“Let us build a house where love can dwell and all can safely live, a place where saints and children tell how hearts learn to forgive; built of hopes and dreams and visions, rock of faith and vault of grace; here the love of Christ shall end divisions: All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.”
~ Presiding Bishop Michael Curry
9/11 20 YEARS LATER
Though 20 years have passed this Saturday, we have not forgotten.
We honor all those whose lives were taken from them. We say their names and remember.
We offer comfort to those who lost loved ones. Whose lives were never the same.
We give thanks for and recognize all the heroes — those who fought back on flight 93, first responders, clergy, neighbors, friends, medical personnel and all others who helped that day and in those to come in the aftermath.
We stand beside one another as we reflect on the ways our country was forever changed.
We remember how we came together as a country during a time of tragedy. Where we were. What we did. Who we were with. How we heard.
We pray for those who were lost. For one another. For our country. For all that was lost that Tuesday. We pray that we never again experience such horrors.
9/11/01 is forever ingrained into us as a nation and as a people.
MOTHER KATHY IS AWAY
Mother Kathy is away from Sept. 10 through Sept. 17. With that in mind, the Sept. 12 Sunday services are Morning Prayer. If you have a pastoral emergency while she is away, please contact your senior warden (Neil Fadely at St. Andrew’s, Kirk Denkler at Emmanuel). You may also email Melissa as usual for help with other issues or concerns.
NEW WINDOWS AT EMMANUEL
This week, new windows are being installed at Emmanuel in the parish hall, sacristy, kitchen and throughout the downstairs. If you pass by, you’ll see an entire work station set up in the parking lot as the team swaps out the old ones for the new, energy efficient and functional windows. Thanks to Jonathan Nateghi-Asli for the photos and heading up this project as junior warden.
2021 Parish Directory
The 2021 Historic Beckford Parish Directory is available on our website. To access the file, you’ll need a password so please email Melissa for it.
Melissa is soon starting out next reader schedule. If you aren’t already listed as a reader and would like to be one, please let her and Mother Kathy know.

The Bible study group with the Episcopal churches in our region has resumed. It is from 7 to 8 p.m. online via Zoom every Wednesday. You’re welcome to attend even if you haven’t before or if you miss a few weeks. You can jump in any Wednesday without any problem.
If you have any questions, please let Mother Kathy know.
URGENT: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT EMMANUEL’S TABLE FOOD PANTRY
We’re in great need of volunteers to assist with ordering, inventory and to help Tillie with volunteer recruitment/scheduling. If you know anyone who may be interested in helping, please have them contact Mother Kathy ASAP.
As Barbara Kirkland says, “As the Body of Christ, our congregation is directed to ‘welcome the stranger, feed the hungry’ and twice a month we do this in Christ’s name asking only, ‘how many are in your family?’ Emmanuel’s Table is a way for us to BE the church, rather than just go to church. When you support us with your time, (sic) you are there with us as the face of Christ in the world.”
Volunteers are needed the Monday and Tuesday of pantry weeks. If you’re able to help, please contact Tillie for more details. The pantry is open monthly on the second and fourth Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Sept. 14 and 28). If you know of anyone in need of food, please send them over. More info.

SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASK POLICY
Given the trends in the county infection rate, the Delta variant, CDC guidance and other pertinent information, everyone is required to wear masks at services, no matter vaccination status. We are also asking folks to maintain 6 feet of social distancing at all times, including skipping every other pew.
Our goal is to keep one another as safe as we possibly can. We are very concerned about the continued high rates of infection and transmission in ShenCo, combined with a low vaccination rate, and are monitoring the situation very closely. We urge everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated. Please keep an eye on our website and your email in case important updates need to be shared.
