Urgent Worship Schedule Update

Urgent Worship Schedule Update

Every county within the Diocese of Virginia is in the red zone for new infections and transmissibility of coronavirus. The numbers in Shenandoah County reflect widespread transmission – the 7-day average of cases per 100,000 is up to 84.1, which is more than double from November 30, when it was 36.1. There is an uncontrolled spread, and the best thing, for now, is to avoid prolonged social contact.

The Bishop recommends returning to live streaming or other virtual worship for the next few weeks until the current trend reverses. In consultation with the Senior Wardens, we have made the difficult decision to suspend in-person worship for two weeks.

We will live stream worship on January 2 and 9 on Facebook Live at 10:15 a.m. It will not be on Zoom. I will offer Holy Eucharist with Spiritual Communion; we will have organ music. A reader, our organist, and I will be physically present in the building, masked and socially distant.

We must do everything we can to protect one another and the health and life of God’s people.

Of course, we want to go back to in-person worship as soon as possible. So, we will re-evaluate where we are in the week before the January 16 service.

Please feel free to contact me via phone or email if you have any questions.

May God’s grace abound for you in the New Year!
