Advent Community Service in Woodstock Dec. 12
Mother Kathy is the preacher and Beckford Parish’s Emmanuel is hosting the lunch for the Woodstock area ministerial association’s Community Advent Service on Wednesday, December 12. Volunteers are needed to provide soup and sandwiches for the noon meal at Woodstock Emanuel Lutheran Church (Note this is a change from some years ago when there were two servings of lunch and it was at the Methodist church). Lunch will be served at noon and the service will be at 12:30pm. Volunteers, please come…
Help Us Light Up Woodstock This Friday 11/30/18!
One of the ways we share Christ’s love in our community is through our support of Light Up Woodstock, the town’s kick-off event for Christmas. We provide hot cocoa and cookies and we need your help with both cookie-baking and coming that night to serve. Cookies can be dropped off at Emmanuel this week (or call Melissa or Mother Kathy to make arrangements) or at St. Andrew’s by Thursday at 1pm so Melissa can pick them up. To help that…
Join Emmanuel Church for Light Up Woodstock
Stop by Court Square Friday, Nov. 30, during the Light Up Woodstock parade which starts at 6:30 p.m. Emmanuel Church is handing out hot cocoa and cookies to add to the festive spirit. Bring along a few nonperishable food items to donate to Emmanuel’s Table Food Pantry. Our parish administrator’s daughter is going to be lighting the tree along with Woodstock’s mayor.
Happy Thanksgiving from Beckford Parish
Wishing you a day of many blessings with family and friends. You are welcome to join us for a traditional feast on Thanksgiving from 4 to 7 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
Blessing Of Our Pledge Cards
This prayer was chosen by Mother Kathy and used during the Offering on Ingathering Sunday. If you haven’t yet sent in your pledge for 2019, please do so as soon as possible. This is important for being able to have an accurate budget for next year. Gracious and loving God, giver of all that is good and true and beautiful and life-giving. These cards represent our sweat; they represent our lives; they represent our dreams. The pledges which we make…
Thanksgiving Dinner At Emmanuel
Anyone in our congregations or in the community is invited to come to Emmanuel between 4 and 7 p.m. We’ll be offering a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, pork roast, ham, sides, and desserts. Spread the word! We don’t want anyone to be alone on this special holiday. This event is open to the whole community. Happy Thanksgiving! A Prayer for Joy in God’s Creation O heavenly Father, who hast filled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold thy gracious hand in all thy works;…
Does Stewardship Get A Bad Rap?
Comments shared by Elizabeth Cottrell recently at both of Emmanuel’s Sunday services. “As every man purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or out of compulsion; for God loveth the cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7) Some words get a bad rap…words that, over time, have been burdened with negativity. I’m afraid “stewardship” is among them, and today I’d like to us to reframe the word “stewardship,” so it evokes joy and opportunity instead of obligation and guilt.…
