10/15 Weekly Update

REMINDER: FALL SHRINE MONT SERVICE
We’re at Shrine Mont this Sunday for a special outdoor fall service, including Holy Eucharist and a marriage vow renewal. Since the won’t be a live streamed service, you’re invited to participate with the National Cathedral.

For those coming for lunch: We need to pay ahead of time so ask that on that Sunday you bring a check in the amount of $14.75 per person made out to Emmanuel with “discretionary” in the memo. Checks can go to Mother Kathy.

If you have any questions or concerns please let Mother Kathy or Melissa know.

ALL SAINTS’ DAY SERVICE NOV. 1
If you have a photo of a loved one who has passed that you would like included in the service, please send a digital copy to Melissa via email by Friday, Oct. 23. The photos are going to be shared publicly, in case that impacts your decision of which photo to share.

SOUTHERN SHENANDOAH WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY
Every Wednesday, the Episcopal churches in Elkton, Harrisonburg, Luray, Mt. Jackson, Port Republic, Stanley, and Woodstock are having an online Bible study from 7 to 8 p.m. You can join online via Zoom. This group is meeting through the month of November. If you haven’t been able to attend, no problem! You’re welcome to jump in any Wednesday you’re available. If you have any question, please let Mother Kathy know.

EMMANUEL’S TABLE FOOD PANTRY
Monday we were blessed with a delivery from Food Lion. Their team delivered and unloaded two pallets of food, plus gave the pantry $800 in gift cards. The delivery was the result of our being awarded the Food Lion Feeds Great Pantry Makeover Restock after being nominated by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank coordinator. We are thankful for the food, which allowed us to give our clients access to foods we might not usually have. We’ll be able to make sure everyone who comes to the pantry this month has plenty of food to keep their stomachs full!

If you’re interested in volunteering with the pantry, contact our new volunteer coordinator, Tillie Kaufmann (tillie@shentel.net). She can answer any questions you may have.

OCTOBER PLEDGES
Now more than ever, your pledges make a difference. You can mail current or past month’s pledges (time seems to get away from us, doesn’t it?) to the church offices. Your pledges are very appreciated as they’re what allow us to keep the churches operating and our community supports going out to those in need.

DROP-IN OFFICE HOURS
Virtual drop in office hours with Mother Kathy are Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Zoom. (If for some reason you aren’t able to get into the Zoom meeting, please send her an email.)

226th ANNUAL DIOCESAN CONVENTION MOVES ONLINE
Our Annual Diocesan Convention, originally scheduled for November 12-14 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, is moving online. Anticipating that it will not be safe or wise to gather more than 600 people in a hotel ballroom across three days this fall, there will be a one-day virtual convention instead on Saturday, November 14.

CONTACTING MOTHER KATHY AND MELISSA
Next Tuesday and Wednesday, Mother Kathy and Melissa are attending a virtual conference so may not be as responsive as usual.

Due to the need for continued caution, we both continue to work from home. If you have a question, concerns or would like to check in with them, please email. Also, please do call Mother Kathy on her cell (we know it says for emergencies, but during this time it’s the best way to reach her. The number is in the directory).

Mother Kathy generally observes the Sabbath on Friday and Saturday while Melissa is off Thursday after 1:30 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. While we may not reply immediately, we absolutely will get back to you.

PRAYER LIST
For now, the prayer list can be found online. Melissa is updating it as names are added or removed so it stays current.
