Shrine Mont is collaborating with the Virginia Association of Teachers of English (VATE) to hold Camp Curious this summer (July 9-14) for rising 3rd-6th grade students. The camp’s mission is to “Infuse struggling readers/writers with the joy and experiences of reading and writing.” Campers will go home with a “tool bag” for good reading and writing strategies. We will also provide students with supplies, books, and family reading and writing ideas. The primary focus will be to support students from Page, Rockingham, and Shenandoah counties who are struggling with or behind in their reading skills.
There are currently 25 campers enrolled and they can take five more.
Saint Andrew’s Vestry has committed to match up to $2,000 in donations from parishioners at Saint Andrew’s and Emmanuel. You can DONATE HERE or send it to Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 117, Mount Jackson, VA 22842 with a notation that it is for Camp Curious.
